When To Replace Your Windshield Wipers

Wondering, “Do I need new windshield wipers?” Our Ford Technicians are here to help. This is what you should know. 

Good blades are key to windshield wiper performance.

They give you high visibility while driving through rain and snow and slush.

It’s important to remember that all wiper blades wear out over time:

- You may see streaking on the windshield.

- Or hear a chattering sound when in use.

- There could be splits and cracks in the hardened wiper blade rubber.

Some wipers even have a wear indicator that turns a different color when it is time to replace.

If wiper blades are relatively new, first try cleaning them with windshield washer fluid. If this doesn’t help, or you notice any of three signs noted above, it’s likely time to replace them.

We suggest blade replacement every 12 months, depending on your climate conditions.
