AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REPAIR & SERVICE

Troubleshooting and repairing an automatic transmission can be quite a challenge even for experienced mechanics. This is because modern vehicles have become increasingly more sophisticated and their components are tightly integrated. Automatic transmissions typically incorporate a variety of elements, such as hydraulics and computer-controlled items, with some also incorporating a differential or final drive. All these factors contribute to the complexity in terms of diagnosing and repairing the issues correctly.

WARNING SIGNS THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IS THE ISSUE

  • Warning Light
  • Fluid Leaks
  • Transmission Slipping
  • Rough Shifts
  • Burning Smell
  • Unusual Noises

Vehicle is showing at least one of these signs?

Schedule an appointment with us. We are transmission experts and the sooner you bring your vehicle to us for a diagnosis, the more likely we can find and correct the problem before it worsens.

WHY SHOULD I GET A TRANSMISSION FLUSH?

You don’t necessarily need a transmission flush with each transmission fluid change, but they are more effective. Flushes remove all old fluid completely while changes only remove about half of the old fluid. So, any dirty fluid sitting in the torque converter, as well as many of the cooler lines, stays in place and contaminates the new fluid. Any old/remaining fluid will diminish the performance of the new fluid, which results in lower performance.

Transmission flushes aren't a fix-all.

They are an important part of regular maintenance, but if your transmission is having problems before a flush there’s a chance that there’s something more going on.
Schedule your appointment today to keep your vehicle running smoothly and increase the transmission’s lifespan.

When should I get a transmission fluid change?

Determine when your transmission fluid was last changed. If you can’t remember, it’s likely time. We will drain the fluid from your transmission and recommend which service you need based on its colour. If it’s dark and contaminated, a flush is a better option. If the fluid is relatively clear, all you may need is a change.
Whether you have a standard or automatic transmission, replacing the transmission fluid with the proper lubrication fluid is critical to your vehicle’s health. The wrong fluid could lead to an expensive transmission overhaul or costly replacement.

How to know if the transmission is the problem?

To avoid costly transmission repairs, make sure you are aware of the warning signs of transmission problems:

  • Warning Light
  • Fluid Leaks
  • You find transmission fluid on the ground beneath your vehicle. There are many reasons transmission fluid leaks and many of are inexpensive and easy fixes if they are repaired quickly.
  • Transmission Slipping
Has the transmission been slipping from one gear to the next? It can be hard to tell in automatic vehicles, but if you have noticed that your vehicle feels sluggish, your engine noise changing unexpectedly, or your vehicle not accelerating properly, your transmission might be slipping.
  • Rough Shifts
Similar to transmission slipping, rough shifting can be a sign of a transmission problem. If you hear loud "thuds" when your vehicle shift gears, or if your car doesn't seem to drive immediately after you've shifted out of park, it's time to have your transmission looked at.
  • Burning Smell
Smell something burning? Don't panic. The transmission fluid is likely overheating, signaling there's a problem with your transmission. Schedule an appointment with us.
  • Unusual Noises
If you hear grinding gears or noises coming from the engine when your vehicle is in neutral, it could mean transmission issues. Make a note of what it sounds like (or, even better, record the noises on your phone) and schedule your vehicle in for a transmission inspection.
